On October 13, 2007, the Military Science Department dedicated a memorial to the late Colonel Dirk Spanton, a member of the Class of 1983, the second ROTC class to be commissioned at Illinois State. The University Facilities and Grounds began construction in May for the memorial located on the east side of the Military Science Building at 211 N. University St. The family of Colonel Spanton has made a gift toward beginning the construction of a memorial in his name. Your contributions for help with the maintenance of the memorial are greatly appreciated. Alumni and Friends of Redbird ROTC who desire to make a contribution to the SPANTON MEMORIAL can easily do so online.

Brick Walk

The Military Science Department created a Brick Walk at the entrance for current and former students of Illinois State University's Redbird Battalion, to leave a lasting legacy to the ROTC program. The brick walk is a beneficial way of leaving a tangible piece of evidence of where students first received their military leadership training on the campus. The bricks cost $100 ($50 for current undergraduate students) and feature the alumnus name and commissioning year class. Cadre members, past and present and trusted friends of our program are also eligible to purchase a brick. Please indicate in the comments portion of your online contribution your preferences for etching. If you have questions, please send a e-mail to arotc@ilstu.edu. Approximately 75% of your donation from purchasing a brick is placed into an endowment that supports the operation of the Military Science Program for educating our future leaders. Purchase a BRICK online today.

Redbird ROTC Alumni, we would like to hear from you! Photos are very welcome! Please go online and update your information! You can also send it directly to arotc@ilstu.edu
